faq
"How do I join a tribe?" You PM the leader of the tribe (if making a character application), or me, with your application before you post it anywhere else - so you should have a back-up saved somewhere on your computer. You should ask for a rank, and if you're accepted, you should just add something about being in that tribe and your rank. I will do the tribe page editing. If you already have a character than you would like to RP into a tribe, then simply seek out the leader of the tribe and RP.
"What exactly are tribes?" Tribes, in this case, are groups of characters that live in the same camp, work together to hunt and gather, defend each other from enemies, and are led by a leader with a deputy (second-in-command). Many tribes also have medics, which are those skilled with handling wounds. They usually have access to medical supplies from run-down hospitals, or they may have a special ability. Magic-users and water elementals tend to make promising medics.
"Can you tell me more about the ranks?" The leader's job is to handle politics. They also pick the next deputy. Generally, they are between the ages of 30 and 45. They do not do much fighting, since they're so vital to the tribe and can be fairly old. Their wisdom is needed more than their brawn. The deputy is very different - typically young (17-25) when first appointed. They send out patrols to hunt and gather, and commonly lead other patrols to fight. They can be a former warrior or a former hunter, it doesn't matter. When the leader dies, the deputy becomes the new leader and may appoint a new deputy. Warriors and hunters are those of the group that fight and collect food, respectively. Warriors tend to be the stronger or extremely fast members of a tribe that are good with weapons like swords, daggers, and hammers. Hunters are those that gather food and hunt, and therefore must be good with a bow. Apprentices are younger members (10-15) that have begun training. The leader will let each choose what they wish to be - either a warrior or a hunter. During this time and on into adulthood, they can switch professions as they please. The exception to this rule? Medic apprentices. They are chosen by the medic or the leader and once they agree, they cannot switch. Once a warrior becomes too old to fight as well as he or she needs to, they will become a simple hunter and spend their remaining days gathering and helping to skin the animals. Leaders may change their tribe's ranks at any time.
"How do I start a tribe?" Just PM me with the tribe name, territory, and all members. I'll add it.
